NORMAL PARENTING’S NOT ENOUGH

Most every Christian circle in America has sounded the alarm bell of concern for our teens as study after study has shown the same thing: we are in danger of losing the next generation to a secular worldview. From denominational leaders to para-church groups, leaders are strategizing how to capture this young generation for Christ.

With the release of Thom Rainer’s research based book The Millennials, one of the most important solutions to the declining 12 percent rate of Christianity in this generation has become obvious. Millennials (those born 1980–2000), according to Rainer’s research, list parents as the number one influence of their life choices. Interesting. With all the talk about the power of the media influence over our kids, we joined them in shock. Calling Christian parents back into their God-given roles of influence over their own children will greatly impact our future—IF, we, as parents, are spiritually alive and skillfully equipped to lead our children toward authentic faith.

But Normal Parenting Is Not Enough! To pass the baton of our faith on to our children, we will need God’s wisdom and strength; His strategies and passion; His love and His grace like never before!

Join us as we launch together into an exciting new season of parenting our teens. We will pray together, laugh together, and maybe even cry together as we let God mold us into the parents He created us to be! Come with your friends. A tight knit circle of parents around our teens will release them to come out of Normal … to all God has in store for them.

Doug and Lisa Cherry are no strangers to the job of teen parenting. With ten children ranging in age from four to adulthood, no day goes by without its share of parenting opportunities in the busy Cherry household. Some of their well hidden gray hairs are well earned, but they wouldn’t trade their assignment to raise up the next generation for any other. As local church pastors and founders of REALITY Youth Center, they care deeply about the challenges facing modern day homes. After nearly losing their second born, Kalyn, to the aftermath of teen sexual abuse, God broke their hearts for teens and their parents. Together with all of their children, they have a passion to assist moms, dads, teens, and pastors to Take Back Ground from the enemy and Build Frontline Families.
